Well, yes, he's a politician, but I think he's the best choice we've got at the moment. There are things that worry me about Obama (corporate sponsership, choice of economic advisor, etc), but it doesn't change the fact that he's a better choice than McCain, and the most likely candidate to respond to progressive groups pushing for change.

It would be great to get Kucinich or Nader, but it won't happen. I'd like it to, but it won't. As long as people keep pressure on Obama if and when he's in office, than I think he has a chance to be a great president.

Obama is a very good story book reader and has a very good speech writer! Other than that its was Hollywood! Which Obama was that? The one that gave the first speech at the beginning of the campaign or the speech tonight? Talking news politics in Washington with the old political speech! Same old politics is what this American heard.

I wouldn't say that I Am Legend is a particularly good film - narratively it doesn't really deliver, and it lacks the visceral power of something like Omega Man - but it is worth seeing, for the spectacle if nothing else.

Actually, it's worth seeing for a compare-and-contrast with Omega Man and the Vincent Price-starring The Last Man On Earth.

Can't beat a good apocalyptic theme night with the lights off!

I have to agree with you by saying this summer was full of entertaining and really good films. Opening was Iron Man that exceeded all expectations critically and in the box office. And then Forgetting Sarah Marshall returned Judd Apatow at the top of the comedy pedestal. Then the other great comedies of Pineapple Express and Tropic Thunder. And of course the juggernaut that was The Dark Knight that simply awed the world to a silence with its superior cast, direction, plot, and action. One final film to note, which you forgot to mention, was the incredible achievement of Pixar's latest WALL-E. It held the simplicity of a children's story, the softness of a great romance story, and the maturity of a film that will test time into one of the best animated films ever.
